If I ask how you feel, what would you give in a response? Great? OK? Or Shut the f… up? The mood of humans is a powerful asset. If you are in a great mood, stuff seams to go your way, you are more effective and stuff is more fun. Bad mood is on the other hand a dangerous weapon; it is like an aggressive virus raging the environment just around you, bringing everybody down. If you as I work in an open office landscape with 30 plus employees you know what I am talking about. We are provided …

I was just surfing around the Internet looking for interesting news and articles when I stumbled upon a web site that specializes in and sell “Employee Surveillance Solutions”. They inform that the system can keep track of and monitor; Application Activity, Internet Activity, Documents Activity and much more. Do we really need to monitor our employees that much? Where is the trust? I have a system telling me when they arrive at work, how many calls they complete in what times. I do not want or need to monitor more. I do not want to know if Mr. Doe sends …

Have you ever held a pep talk for your employees only to discover a short boost in morale and effort? Why can’t they just produce in the pace you know they can perform at? Well it’s more to it.

In everyday life at work, I love to use examples from the soccer world to make my points. I love the division system and the rankings; I love it when a team during a few years gets promoted twice or more. Comparing with soccer is what I do when I want to let my co-workers know what I expect of them. My team is supposed to play in the premier division, I need premier employees. Have you ever experienced a soccer player being late for a match? Neither have I. Late to work on the other hand is rather …

It is easier to navigate with a good map, a plan and a defined destination. A great vision, a healthy goal and a plan how to get us there is most important. The best way to identify your vision is to let your employees get together to make the vision. The vision should come from the root of the organization as it will result in ownership. Also let them set individual goals to match the common goal. To win, everybody in this boat need to row the same way. If you’re not the top leader of a company this could …

I am a rookie in the game of leadership; I have had leading positions before, but not in the current scale of leading a whole department of totally 25 people. I have at most been leading five people before. I am not an educated leader, but unlike president Schwarzenegger’s quote in the fiction of the Simpsons “I was elected to lead, not to read”; I really read a lot about leadership. I knew how to build an e-commerce store before educating myself to a web master. Still that does absolutely not mean I know how to lead, even when …
